This is the flower of a native tree, but I’m afraid I don’t know what kind.
Dedicated to Dan, because he likes “ugly” photos. Many of the poor gum trees along the canal are getting eaten up by these critters.
I spotted this globular thing perched precariously on this branch, but I couldn’t get close enough to see what it was. I’m guessing it’s some kind of strange growth, but I prefer to imagine it’s an adventurous snail.
The plane trees on our street are vigorously pruned at the centre so the branches go out and around the telephone lines directly above. Doesn’t stop them from keeping on trying.
