Flower, Tree Tourism, TreesThis seems to be a common street tree of Cairns, with amazingly bright red flowers they were really quite striking. I think probably the caravan park neighbours thought I was a bit strange taking this photo but I’m getting used to that feeling :). I had not seen these trees before, but I think they looks very similar to the Jacarandas you find in Brisbane, except they have blue flowers. An internet search suggests it is an Illawarra or Kurrajong Flame Tree, which is what I will call it unless anyone can correct me.
Daintree
Tree Tourism, TreesJust got back from a short trip up to Cairns to view the total eclipse of the sun. Apart from that we took some time to check out the awesome World Heritage Daintree tropical rainforest and of course the Great Barrier Reef. All up, an adventure of awesomeness. I haven’t yet gone through my photos, but stay tuned for more tropical trees.
