I couldn’t figure out what was going on in this field, but I think some vines have taken over the remnant trunks of some kind of crop.
What I learned about noni fruit:
a) It smells somewhat like a very sharp blue cheese
b) It tastes somewhat like a very sharp blue cheese
c) It is supposed to be good for rubbing on sunburn, but see a)
These flowers open up to reveal their hairy insides as they fall to the ground from their tree.

This was the path for much of the walk that goes across Rarotonga, via ‘the needle’. A narrow muddy, leafy and steep scramble. Thank goodness for the tree roots, rocks and odd rope. Was very much fun though, with the most beautiful scenery. Highly recommended.
